Who We Are

Sometimes you have to make your own fun.

Wooly Fair began, waaaayyyy back in 2005, as a kind of backyard variety show situated on the grounds of the nascent Steel Yard. That year we had a ramp truck as a stage, a very small hand built midway, and a handful of brave performers including one lady who played the saw.

Since then the event has had ten different iterations and though they were all purposefully different events, they all share a common method. Months in advance of the event, we issue a project call, and then offer stipends and wooly work sessions where we get together and build the thing.

As the projects take shape, our community is formed. The day of Wooly Fair, we celebrate this ambitious outpouring of creativity by encouraging our attendees to participate with all of the projects. The event itself is wild and immersive and transformative. Everyone is welcome. Come be a part.

Our Mission:

To radically enliven human connection through the collective production of extraordinary events.
